BRIEF HISTORY OF THE UNION

The union was founded in 1995, with 44 St Paul’s Avenue, Willesden, London NW2 5UD, which is Chief RC Duru’s residence as its correspondence address.

Chief R C Duru was appointed as the first chairman of the union. General meetings were held monthly at the aforementioned address before it became necessary to rotate it between the foundation members residence.

As the membership grew in number, it become necessary to find a permanent meeting venue. A small meeting hall was found in swan mead street, London SE1. Monthly general meetings were held there for several years, before moving to a bigger hall at partnership house, 157 waterloo road, London SE1 8XA. Given the size of the hall, it served as a meeting venue and end of the year party venue for the union for many years before moving to a venue at 3-7 Euston Centre, London NW1 3JG.

As the membership continues to grow, the union decided to change its meetings from monthly to by-monthly to allow its members more time for other engagements and activities.
